If x is given 3
Then we have to put in the equation
Y= -x^2
We put 3 in the place of x
Y= -3^2
Now, we multiply -3 times -3 we get 9
Y= 9

So, if the x=3 then the y=9

Explanation
We can also write this in graphic form (3,9)

Answer:

Ahh! I know right?

Explanation:

So what it's talking about is a "Function box", a method used to by teachers to introduce functions. My teacher introduced it as a "FUN-ction box"

So X in this case is being represented as the input, and y as the output. So, we have to find y when x is 3.

Simple!

Just input 3 for x and you will solve it!

y=-(3)^(2) \\y=-9

See? Simple.

Hope this helps!

P.S. How's your Apocalypse going?
