2x - 1 = 5x - 7

2x - 1 + 7 = 5x

2x + 6 = 5x

6 = 5x - 2x

6 = 3x

3x = 6

Substitute the value of x in, y = 2x - 1

y = 2*2 - 1

y= 4 - 1

y = 3
