There are several reasons as to why population is not too large.

1. Resource crisises, such as food shortages, are less a result of population and more a result of the standard of living. In fact, the countries that have the highest populations are not the countries that consume the most resources. Develop countries with lower populations consume far more than less developed countries with much higher populations, showing that population isn't necessaily the issue.

2. Population drives innovation. Whenever there are more people, there are more minds to think and hands to work, and in general whenever an area has a population boom that is usually followed by a large amount of technological advancement.

3. Population growth is directly related to the demographic transition model, which is a model that describes how population within a country over time. Once a country reaches stage four, the population stops growing. In theory, every single country will eventually hit stage four, meaning that eventually human population will level out and even decrease in the future with development.
