A set of data with 100 observations has a mean of 267. There are six outliners in the data set, which have a mean of 688. If the six outliners are removed, what is the mean of the new data set?

Answer:

688x6=4128(because you had to divide by 6 to get the mean of the 6 outliers so you do the opposite to find the total)

267x100=26700(again you had to divide by 100 to get the mean, so do the opposite to find the total)

26700-4128=22572(total after removing the outliers)

22572/94=240.13 is the mean without the outliers
