Area of shaded region = Area of bigger circle - Area of smaller circle

$= \pi( {5}^(2) - {3}^(2) ) \\ = 3.14 * (25 - 9) \\ = 3.14 * 16 \\ = 50.24 \: {cm}^(2) \\$
