How was the purple ink in medieval manuscripts made?

From indigo
From purple-blue rocks found in the mountain ranges of Scotland
From the blood of sea snails

Answer: I think it was made from the blood of sea snails, specifically the Murex snail. this ink was also used to dye clothes (especially royal clothes) and other things!
