Factor and solve x2 + 7x - 30 = 0. What are the solutions?

Hey there,

The first step is to factor x² + 7x - 30 = 0:

  • x² + 10x - 3x - 30
  • x(x + 10) -3(x + 10)
  • (x - 3)(x+ 10)

Now we set each factored form equal to 0 and then solve:

  • x - 3 = 0 -> x = 3
  • x + 10 = 0 -> x = -10

The factored form would be (x - 3)(x + 10) and the solution would be 3 and -10.

(x+10)(x-3). I’m assuming you meant x^2
