Explanation:

A. √50 = √2 √25

= 5√2.

Jaclyn did not take the square root of 2.

B. We estimate the square root of 2.

Trial and improvement:

It must lie between 1 and 2 so we try 1.5:

1.5 * 1.5 = 2.25

Its < 1.5 so try 1.4

1.4 * 1.4 = 1.96.

So it is a little above 1.4.

Try 1.45:
