In order to factor a number in prime numbers, you have to check if a prime divides your number evenly. If so, you divide the given number by that prime, and keep going.

So, we start from 14. You can clearly see that it is divisible by 2, the first prime number.

14 divided by 2 is 7, and now we must find the factors of 7.

But 7 is a prime number itself. So we're done.


14=2\cdot 7
