The angle bisector theorem states that "if the angle that bisects the triangle will divide the opposite sides into two segments that are proportional to the remaining two sides of the triangle".

Hence, applying the theorem, we have;


(x)/(20-x)=(14)/(11)

Cross multiplying, we get;


11x=14(20-x)

Simplifying, we get;


11x=280-14x


25x=280


x=11.2

Thus, the value of x is 11.2
