Bailey’s Cakes and Pastries baked a three-tiered cake for a wedding. The bottom tier is a rectangular prism that is 18 centimeters long, 12 centimeters wide, and 8 centimeters tall. The middle tier is a rectangular prism that is 12 centimeters long, 8 centimeters wide, and 6 centimeters tall. The top tier is a cube with edges of 4 centimeters each. Answer:

Formula

Volume of a rectangular prism = width × length × height

Bottom Tier

volume = 12 × 18 × 8

= 1,728 cm³

Middle Tier

volume = 8 × 12 × 6

= 576 cm³

Top Tier

volume = 4 × 4 × 4

= 64 cm³

Entire Cake

Volume = bottom tier + middle tier + top tier

= 1728 + 576 + 64

= 2,368 cm³
