We have to find the value of "y".

As the ascent of water level is upward so we will assign it y-axis and time to be on x-axis.

As we know in Coordinate plane we have to put
(x,y) data.

So,

Rise of
17 cm in
7 minutes can be written in
(x_1,y_1) as
(7,17) .

Lets find the relation of given
x_2 = 21 with
x_1= 7 and say that its ratio is a
k factor.

Dividing both the values:


k =(x_2)/(x_1)


k =(21)/(7)


k=3

We can say that the ratio of y-values will also be equal to
k .


k =(y_2)/(y_1)


k=(y)/(y_1) ...considering
y_2=y


k=(y)/(17)


y=k* 17


y=3* 17


y=51

The value of y from the data point is 51.
