The diameter of a circle has endpoints P(–6, –10) and Q(10, 6).

a. Find the center of the circle.
b. Find the radius. If your answer is not an integer, express it in radical form.
c. Write an equation for the circle.

Answer:

The centre must be the midpoint of PQ

which would be C( (-10+4)/2 , (-2+6)/2 )

= C(-3,2)

radius is √( (4+3)^2 + (2-6)^2) = √65

equation:

(x+3)^2 + (y-2)^2 = 65
