The chorus needs to raise $2,620.00 for a trip to the state competition. They are selling sets of candles for $25.00 per set. They have already raised $1,225.00 from the fundraiser.

The band needs to raise $2,400.00 to pay for a trip to the state capital to participate in a parade. They are selling 3-gallon tubs of caramel popcorn for $18.25 each. They have already raised $1,314.00 from the fundraiser.

Answer:

The band needs to sell 4 more items from their fundrasier than the chorus needs to sell for their fundraiser.

Explanation:

First we have to see how far each of the groups are from completing their goal.

For chorus, we get 2620-1225=1395 dollars.

For band, we get 2400-1314=1086 dollars.

Now, we see how long it takes for them to get to their goals.

For chorus, we get 1395/25 = 55.8. because they can't sell 0.8 of a set of candles, it round up to 56 candles.

For band, we get 1086/18.25 ≈ 59.5. because they can't sell half of a 3 gallon tubs of caramel popcorn, they have to sell 60.

So, when both of the funraisers meet their goals, the band needs to sell 4 more items from their fundrasier than the chorus needs to sell for their fundraiser.
