Say you have these 2 fractions

`(a)/(b) .........(c)/(d)`

Cross multiply as following;

`((b)(c))/((a)(d))=(bc)/(ad)`

If in the end, both numerator and denominator are equal, then the fractions are equivalent.

Examples:

Example 1

`(20)/(24)...........(5)/(6)`

Cross multiply

`((24)(5))/((20)(6))=(120)/(120)`

They're equivalent.

Example 2

`(20)/(24)........(3)/(4)`

Cross multiply

`((24)(3))/((20)(4)) =(72)/(80)`

They're not equivalent.
