Why don’t planets travel in a straight line

Well you see, they orbit around the sun because of its mass
There is no gravity in space but the sun is so big that it’s mass sucks in these planets causing them to orbit the sun! They don’t circulate in a circle around the sun, the circulate in an oval around the star
