Bloody Sunday, demonstration in Londonderry (Derry), Northern Ireland, on Sunday, January 30, 1972, by Roman Catholic civil rights supporters that turned violent when British paratroopers opened fire, killing 13 and injuring 14 others (one of the injured later died).

On 22nd January 1905, in St petersburg Russia, a procession of workers led by father Gapon reached the winter palace. This procession was attacked by police and cossacks. 300 workers were wounded and more than 100 were killed. It was a Sunday. This incident came to be known as Bloody Sunday.
