Answer and Explanation:

The Battle of Brooklyn, also known as the Battle of Long Island, was the largest battle (in terms of number of troops and combat weaponry) of the American Revolution.

The British defeated the Patriots in this battle and were able to gain control of the New York port, which was a strategically important port that could be used to the Brits' advantage. Unfortunately for the American colonists, the British were able to maintain hold over this port for the rest of the war.

Hope this helps!
