Subtract 3/8x from both sides


(3)/(4) x+2-(3)/(8) x=(3)/(8) x-4-(3)/(8) x


(3)/(8) x+2=-4

Subtract 2 from both sides


(3)/(8) x+2-2=-4-2


(3)/(8) x=-6

Multiply both sides by 8/3


((8)/(3) x)*((3)/(8) x)=((8)/(3) )*-6\\x=-16
