A wire 4 1/2 feet long is being cut into smaller pieces of wire, each. 1 1/4 ft long what is the max number of smaller pieces of wire that can be cut from the original piece of wire?

Answer:

4.5 / 1.25 = 3.6 so 3 pieces can be cut

Explanation:

you need to take 4 1/2 and divide it by 1 1/4 to get the number of pieces that can be cut. Since it its not a whole number you need to round it to 3

4.5 divided by 1.25 is 3.6

for peices in total it is 4.

for peices the right length it is 3
