Answer:

D. 48 feet

Explanation:

Ladder (50 ft) = hypotenuse

Floor distance (14 ft) = b

Wall (unknown) = a

a^2+b^2=c^2

a^2+14^2=50^2

a^2+196=2500

a^2=2500-196

a=√(2304)

a=48

Hope this helps!

Answer:

48 feet

Explanation:

Here,

c = 50 ft

b = 14 ft

To find : the height of the wall that the ladder reaches ( a ) = ?

Formula : -

a² + b² = c²

a² = c² - b²

= 50² - 14²

= ( 50 x 50 ) - ( 14 x 14 )

= 2500 - 196

= 2304

= 48 x 48

a² = 48²

a = 48 feet
