Upland

North and West of UK. Igneous and metamorphic rocks (impermeable). Resists erosion. Gradient of the land is steep. Cooler and wetter. Rough vegetation due to thin soils. Sure footed mountain goats? Maybe...

Land uses

Sheep farming, quarrying and tourism

Lowland

South and East of UK. Softer rocks (sedimentary), erodes easily. Gradient of land is flatter. Flat, gently rolling hills. Fertile soils.

Land uses

Dairy and arable farming (crops), most urban and industrial areas are found here.
