In the face of inhumanity and the evils of mass genocide, do you believe that it is possible for a concentration camp prisoner to retain a sense of hope for a better future – or do you believe that the realities of the Holocaust have stripped prisoners of optimism? Explain your position.

Answer:

I believe that the holocaust stripped it's prisoners of not just optimism, but a sense of hope, and a will to live. Because just think of it, you know that they are going to kill you, your family, and your friends. there no escape so what were they able to do? nothing. they had to accept that they were going to die, they just didn't know who would the next to go. Now I don't want to sound to dark, but they all knew they were going to die, they just couldn't fight it.
