Pixar started its animation as an independent company headed by Edwin Catmull and Alvy Ray Smith. They had only a few employees but their concept and techniques of making animation were very unique. Hence, they started looking for big investors like Steve Jobs etc.

As a result of which Disney brought their Image Computers and went into contract with Pixar several times over the years. But these contracts, due to certain disagreements tend to fall out every few months.

Their major disagreements were about the marketing of the above-mentioned movies, their number of sequels and the amount of money being distributed between the two parties i.e Pixar and Disney.
