you take the perpendicular slope, which is 1/3 in this case, you need to find the B in the equation ( y=mx+B) and you fill in the points

so it looks like this:

-1= 1/3(6)+b

then you work it out:

-1=1/3(6)+b multiply

-1=2+b. take away 2 from both sides

-3=b

there you go you plug that into the equation along with the slope we got earlier, bing bop boom you got your answer:

y=1/3x-3
