(FILM: Casablanca) The film shows many different competing and conflicting motivations in the characters. Consider the characters and their motivations. Are all the characters able to achieve their goals? Why or why not? Do the representations of competing motivations, repressing what one wants, and the consequences of actions accurately illustrate the historical context of World War II? Why or why not?

Answer: Answer and explanation is found below

Explanation:

Some of the characters achieved their goals. Rick's goal was achieved when he did not get arrested and later became a free man. Ilsa did not achieve her goal because she wanted to be with Rick, but Rick did not want that.

The representations of competing motivations, repressing what one wants, and the consequences of actions accurately illustrated the historical context of World War II. This is so because it shows what happened to Casablanca and its people when world war II started.
