The cost of renting a canoe is a basic fee of $5 for equipment and $2.50 for each hour that

the canoe is rented. What will the total bill be if you rented a canoe to 12 hours?
Let x = the number of hours and y = total cost.
I have to show work. Can anyone help?

Answer:

y = 35 (aka the total cost)

Explanation:

The equation without the hours input would be

y = 2.50x + 5

2.50 for the hourly cost and 5 for the equipment

If you were to input 12 (hours) for x you could solve this equation

y = 2.50 (12) + 5

y = 30 + 5

y = 35

$35

Explanation:

Y=5+2.5x so Y=5+12(2.5) so y=5+30 so y=35
