( Height = x )

Here,

12 foot ladder is the hypotenuse side.

( Hypotenuse = 12 )

5 feet away is the base side.

( Base = 5 )

Formula : -

Height² + Base² = Hypotenuse²

x² + 5² = 12²

x² + 25 = 144

x² = 144 - 25

x² = 119

x = √119

x = 10.9 approximately

Therefore,
