When you say, "What is the difference between 'a' and 'b'," is 'a' being subtracted by 'b' or is 'b' being subtracted by 'a'?

Answer:

a-b

Explanation:

The difference will usually be the first term subtracted by the second but it is the space/value between the numbers so technically you could just take the negative from b-a as -(b-a) and get the same value
