Explanation:

Adjacent angles in a parallelogram are supplementary so they add to 180 degrees. So

∠A+ ∠B=180

Substitute 8x+2 in for ∠A, and 9x+8 in for ∠B

8x+2+9x+8=180

Combine like terms

8x+9x+8+2=180

17x+10=180

Subtract 10 from both sides

17x=170

Divide by 17 on both sides

x=10
