x_(1) = -4

y_(2) = 3

substituting into the formula , we have :


-5 = (3-r)/(-8-(-4))


-5 = (3-r)/(-8+4)


-5 = (3-r)/(-4)

multiplying through by -4 , we have:


20 = 3-r

add r to both sides


20+r= 3

subtract 20 from both sides


r = -17
