First we can break down the questions.

3 × 10^2 ----- 10^2 = 100 (10 × 10) ----- 3 × 100 = 300

6 × 10^5 ------ 10^5 = ‭100,000‬ (10 × 10 × 10 × 10 × 10) --- 6 × 100,000 = 600,000

Now divide 600,000 by 300.

600,000 ÷ 300 = 2,000

Answer:

The equation 3 × 10^2 is not larger than 6 × 10^5 because 3 × 10^2 equals 300 and 6 × 10^5 equals 600,000. Although 6 × 10^5 is 2,000 times greater than 3 × 10^2.
