A diver is 25 feet below see level. After he swims up 15 feet toward surface. What is elevation.

Since “below sea level” equals negative so -25+15 equals -10

-10 ft

Explanation:

I represent "below sea level" as negative numbers, so 25 ft below sea level would be a -25 ft. Since the diver swims up, or increases by 15 ft, I'd add that.

-25 + 15 = - 10
