Explanation:

You would use the "FOIL" method, which stands for First, Outside, Inside, Last. Honestly, I don't keep that in mind specifically, but I use the method.

I look at this like distributing the first term to the last two, then adding what you get from distributing the second term with the last two.

(3x – 1)(3x – 8)

= (9x² - 24x) + (-3x + 8)

= 9x² - 27x + 8

Eventually, you won't have to write out the entire process since it's basic multiplication.
