Examine how Macbeth faces death and compare his character here to characterizations earlier in the play, such as the Captain's description of him in Act I, Scene 2. What traits have stayed the same throughout the entire play?

Answer:

Macduff, a nobleman and Thane of Fife killed Macbeth. Macbeth murdered Lady Macduff. As a result of this, Macduff confronts Macbeth and kills him.

Macbeth's ambition to become king was seen in the murder of King Duncan. He is so ambitious to be the king. It paid off for him as the Witches had said.

Some of the traits Macbeth portrays throughout the entire play are:

1. Macbeth has resolved himself into a more stereotypical villain

2. He was tyrannical - asserts his manliness on his wife.

3. He was too ambitious which spurred him toward further terrible deeds,

4. He possessed excessive pride which became his dominant character trait.

5. He was bold and had impression of personal invincibility.
