The Champaign-Urbana metropolitan area (population 150,000) has long been suffering from the heinous pathogenic bacterium, Michiganious wolverinous, which causes rabid wolverine fever. Over the past 100 years, there has been a constant mortality rate of 1.5 deaths per 1,000 individuals per year. Assuming that the population of the Champaign-Urbana metropolitan area has not changed in the past 10 years, how many individuals have died from rabid wolverine fever over the past 5 years in the Champaign-Urbana metropolitan area?

Answer: About 500 individuals have died in the last 5years

Step-by-step explanation:

Mortality rate is 1.5 per 1000 persons

Total population is 150,000

Therefore 3/2*1000=1500

150,000/1500=100 persons

In five years,at same rate=5*100=500persons
