Settlers tended to move westward due to overpopulation and limited usage of lands. Newer generation Americans & those who were able to pay off their debts after being indentured servants, demanded for land of their own. However, with the limited amounts of land, they were forced to move westward to claim their "rightful land". This led to clashes between the settlers & the Indian tribes, who were promised that the Americans would not move past a designated line multiple times. However, with the greed for farmlands, the settlers failed to uphold the treaties, and took the land.
