Explanation:

First split the triangle in half. The lengths and width are: 1/2x, 12, and 13.

Again, you use the pythagorean theorem (
a^(2)+
b^(2)=
c^(2)) except you reverse it to find
a^(2).

b^(2)=
a^(2) plug in the numbers (169-144=
a^(2)) ----> a=5----> the thing is you want to find x, which is the length of the whole triangle, not the half one. So then you multiply by 2 to get x=10
