The average speed of an object (in feet per second) is determined by the equation S=4√d , where d is the distance in feet the object is dropped. If a rock dropped from the top of a bridge reaches an average speed of 60 ft /sec, how high is the bridge?

The bridge i s 225ft high.

Explanation:

The average speed is determined by the equation,

S = 4√d

Here S is the average speed and d is the height from where the object is dropped.

Average speed = 60 ft. per second

S= 4√d

60 = 4√d

√d = 60/4

√d = 15

d = 225ft.

The object is dropped from 225ft. height.
