y = 4x -3

y = 1/3x+2

you can solve by substitution or elimination but i prefer elimination.

Substitution:

4x - 3 = 1/3x+2

11/3x = 5

x = 15/11

now plug in x to find y

y = 4(15/11) - 3 = 27/11

solution: (15/11 , 27/11)

Elimination:

you'll have to rearrange the equations

y = 4x -3 ---> -4x + y = -3

y = 1/3x+2 ---> -1/3x + y = 2

now subtract both equations you'll get:

-11/3x = -5

x = 15/11

now plug in x to find y

y = 4(15/11) - 3 = 27/11

solution: (15/11 , 27/11)
