Work out the first three terms of this number sequence.

9, 13, 17

Explanation:

Substitute n = 1, 2, 3 into the n th term formula, that is

a₁ = 4(1) + 5 = 4 + 5 = 9

a₂ = 4(2) + 5 = 8 + 5 = 13

a₃ = 4(3) + 5 = 12 + 5 = 17

Thus the first 3 terms are 9, 13, 17
