Surface area of a rectangular carpet is Length×width

now [5×2.2] yard =11 yard now it's cost will be 11×12$=132$

Now total surface area of the room excluding the carpet 7 (4.5+1.5) yard= 52 yard Now the total cost will be 52×12$=624$

Now total surface area of the room including the carpet is

(624+132)$=756$.

Answer:

45yd^2

540$

Explanation:

The surface will be : total area- the area of the stairs

total area=(4.5+2+1.5)*7=8*7=56 yd^2

area of the stairs=2*5.5=11 yd^2

area of the carpet will be 56-11=45yd^2

total cost =45*12=540 $
