There are 15 dogs for every 24 cats at the shelter. How many cats are there if there are 35 dogs?

here difference is 9, you can add 9 to 35

So first you write the ratio then you ask yourself what number do I need to multiply by 15 in order to get 35 so you just divide 35 by 15 to get that answer (which is 7/3) :)
