first you must mark the first point, then since you are adding negatives, you can basically look at the equation as a subtraction one.

-5 + (-1) is the same as -5 - 1 = -6

same goes for -1 + (-6) = -7

onec you simply it and plot the points on the number line, you can answer the question easily.
