Answer: The width of the screen is 13.5 inches

Step-by-step explanation: The diagonal has been given as 15.6 inches while the height has been given as 7.8 inches.

Note that the diagonal is the length across the screen, which is equivalent to an hypotenuse. with the hypotenuse given as well as one of the other two sides, we can solve for the unknown side by using the Pythagoras theorem which states that;

AC² = AB² + BC²

Where AC is the hypotenuse and AB and BC are the other two sides.

Substituting for the known values we now have

15.6² = 7.8² + BC²

243.36 = 60.84 + BC²

Subtract 60.84 from both sides of the equation

182.52 = BC²

Add the square root sign to both sides of the equation

√182.52 = √BC²

13.5099 = BC

Therefore the width of the screen is approximately 13.5 inches

Answer:13.5 inches

Explanation:

Given diagonal as 15.6inches

Width is unknown

Height is 7.8 inches

From the diagram attached it forms a right angle solved using Pythagoras theorem

Ie

15.6^2=width^2+7.8^2

Width= ✓(15.6^2-7.8^2)=13.5inches

A 15.6 inch laptop is featured in a scale as for $799. This distance is the diagonal-example-1
