Answer: The number of kittens= 500.

Explanation:

Given, A random sample of cats at the SPCA shows that 25 out of the 40 cats are kittens.

i.e. ratio of kitten to cats =
(25)/(40)=(5)/(8)

We assume that , the ratio will remains same.

Let x be the number of kitten out of 800 , then we have

(x)/(800)=(5)/(8)\\\\\Rightarrow\ x=(800*5)/(8)=500

Hence, the number of kittens out of 800 cats= 500.
