One ton is equal to 2,000 pounds, so 7 tons 400 lbs is equal to 14,400 lbs(7 × 2,000 + 400), and 4 tons 1,800 lbs is equal to 9,800(4 × 2,000 + 1,800).

Subtract 9,800 from 14,400.

14,400 - 9,800 = 4,600

Answer:

The first elephant weighs 4,600 lbs more than the second elephant.

Answer:

4600 pounds

Explanation:

There are 2,000 ponds in 1 ton

First Elephant:

7(2,000)+400=14,400

Second Elephant:

4(2,000)+1,800=9,800

Find the difference by subtracting

14,400-9800=4,600

The first elephant weighs 4,600 pounds more than the second

Hope this helps! :)
