Given:

x^(8)+2 x^(4)-4 x^(3)+x^(2)-1

To find:

The coefficient of the term of degree 4.

Solution:

Given polynomial is
x^(8)+2 x^(4)-4 x^(3)+x^(2)-1.

Degree means power of the variable x.

The term which contains degree 4 is
2x^4.

Coefficient of
2x^4 is 2.

Therefore the coefficient of the term of degree 4 in the polynomial is 2.
