the answer is 2.5 m/s^2

step by step:

1. speed= distance/time

so the speed of the plane = 1000/400

(cancel the two zero's of the 400 with two of the three zero's of the 1000)

you'll have 10/4 left

10/4= 2.5

Answer:

speed = (distance)/(time) \\ \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: = (1000)/(400) \\ \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: = 2.5m {s}^( - 1)
