Using Pythagoras identity in the right triangle.

The square on the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares on the other 2 sides.

Let the 2 congruent legs be x, then

x² + x² = (25
√(2) )² , that is

2x² = 1250 ( divide both sides by 2 )

x² = 625 ( take the square root of both sides )

x = 25

Thus the 2 sides are 25 cm
